this paper is just not happening
8 pages worth of rhetoric to get down in microsoft word before 3pm tomorrow. on something I am at least fairly passionate and knowledgeable about (paper’s a rhetorical approach against hydraulic fracturing in Athens County, OH).
i would rather scour tumblr and listen to music and the hum of my box fan and pick up my guitar every 2 hours and play a few songs and then put it back down.
i wish I could just get this over with.
trying. starting. now…

Nelsonville Music Festival
that was the best weekend of my life. i cannot possibly explain it all in words, but I will do my best, in bullet point form:
- Camped for 3 nights and 4 days with my best dudes and other amazing people and had an awesome tent circle, surrounded but other awesome neighbors that were fun.
- Jammed around the fire
- Cooked on the fire
- Venison steaks!
- Chili!
- bacon, eggs, and potatoes.
- drunken O’Betty’s in Nelsonville and not in Athens.
- got a sun
tan burn.
- didn’t need to wear a shirt for a few days.
- woke up to the sun.
- slept by the fire
- lauretta on the fiddle!
- sangria, cigarettes, strawberry wine, pipes, beers, guitar, knifes, friends, and made-up songs under a home-made canopy made from a bedsheet in the middle of a hot afternoon.
- waking up at 6:30 on Friday morning to the sound of birds and not the other 2000 campers that weren’t there until 4pm. thank god we went on Thursday night.
- burlesque
- whiskey
- drinking literally for 20 hrs straight on Friday.
- hangovers cured by beer and bacon and eggs and piles of potatoes
- not showering for 4 days
- meeting awesome Hocking College people.
- Luke catching a huge catfish with a piece of hotdog in 1 cast while drunk at 2am and wanting to eat it but not knowing how to clean it
- playing log games. with logs. specifically, log toss, the worlds best new drinking game ever.
- that creepy lady that has a son that goes to Hocking and needs more roommates next year at his house in the plains.
- the awesome jam session around the fire with the neighbors and lauretta on fiddle and luke on guitar and drew on banjo
- so many awesome things
and that didn’t even include the main reason we were there! MUSIC! we saw some really awesome bands…
- michael hurley THREE TIMES and talking to him a couple times in passing and getting a picture with him. one of my new favorite artists ever.
- iron and wine
- horse feathers
- shovels and rope
- kurt vile and the violators
- CHARLES BRADLEY IS A GOD
- andrew bird
- m. ward
- jessica lea mayfield
- southeast engine
- a little of Those Darlins
- mucca pazza when they went up to play with andrew bird
- dawes
- not to mention, we were within 10 rows of the stage basically for every show, and sat literally directly in front of the band on more than one occasion, whilst eating a burrito and suckin on sunflower seeds.
- and when michael hurley played I Dream A Design when I yelled it to him, thanks to Jacob’s knowledge of his music.
It was one of the best weekends of my life, if not THE best. I don’t know what else I can say, except that I cannot wait until next year.
